Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Data Analyst I fulfills data requests submitted through the centralized Report/Data Request system, generating reports and analyzing information for all areas of Regis University. The Data Analyst I also submits institutional data for external University surveys, compliance reports and accreditation. Reporting and analysis is accomplished by gathering information from several databases and forming relationships with subject matter experts throughout the Regis community. The tools utilized in reporting include the Business Intelligence (BI) System, Informer, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Recruit, SQL, and Microsoft Excel. The Data Analyst I facilitates access to information to support university operations, monitors key-performance indicators, ensures data integrity of all reports and visualizations driving data-informed decision making.

The successful candidate will possess a curiosity about data, be detail-oriented ensuring accuracy in reporting and have the technical skills to extract data from the University reporting systems. Knowledge of university processes and data flow is important along with a basic understanding of relational databases. We’re seeking an individual who possesses a true team spirit and is able to multi-task.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Generates standardized and customized statistical reports using the BI system, Informer, Excel, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Power BI and similar reporting tools to assist University Analytics and Reporting by providing data for trending and tracking purposes. Ensures data quality and data integrity in all reports. Generates weekly admissions reports while also fulfilling ad-hoc requests as needed. Collects data to support the national and local outreach efforts. Provides data analysis and support for special projects. Helps to provide basic data analysis as needed. Coordinates and submits data for external surveys such as the US News & World Report, Peterson’s, Collegeboard. Also helps in submission of Colorado State reporting (SURDS) and Title II reporting. 50%

Instrumental in training to run standardized reports and to build queries. Trains appropriate staff on guidelines, procedures and use of codes, software, and report statements. Develop and maintain a tracking document that contains all standard and customized report requirements. 20%

Regularly supports other departments within the University, such as Admissions, with analyzing, validating, and retrieval of data from Colleague to support business requirements. Compile and manipulate data required for advising and retention efforts. 20%

Works with Registrar’s Office and ITS. Provides input in the data governance process to enhance the Business Intelligence (BI) system. Understands use of university codes and familiar with databases to aid in queries that allow for correct data to be pulled from Colleague, the BI System, and related databases/tables. 10%

Perform duties as necessary to support the University Analytics and Reporting department and the Regis University mission.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

A minimum of 3 years of data processing, data management and retrieval, and report generation.

Strong skills in utilizing Excel. Accurately generate reports and disseminate information is essential.

Ability to professionally communicate with individuals requesting information and articulate what the results will demonstrate is necessary for accurate information portrayal.

Ability to trouble shoot and respond to technical problems with databases and computerized systems (Colleague, MS Office, etc).

Familiarity with undergraduate, graduate, teacher licensure and online program knowledge is helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
