Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Chair is a full-time, exempt faculty member who is responsible for the leadership of the department and the development and supervision of departmental faculty and staff. The Chair will teach courses in the School of Pharmacy and maintain an active scholarship program in his or her respective field of expertise. The Chair will serve as a role model for faculty and students. Following the mission of the University and School, the Chair will serve the University, College, School, and the professional and lay communities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in all departmental activities including teaching, scholarship and service
• Provide strategic direction for pharmaceutical sciences education in the School of Pharmacy
• Assist the Dean with the accreditation process for the School of Pharmacy
• Assist the Dean in maintaining a curriculum to meet the current and future needs of the profession and the guidelines of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
• Promote an inter-professional curriculum with other academic programs within the Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Profession
• Provide recommendations to the Dean on promotion of departmental faculty
• Make recommendations to the Dean regarding departmental or individual faculty needs with respect to space, finances, time, and resources
• Represent the interests of Regis University, Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions and the School of Pharmacy at the local, state, and national level, especially in the areas of the pharmaceutical sciences
• Serve on appropriate University, College, and School committees
• Maintain an active scholarship program
• Assign and oversee teaching responsibilities of the departmental faculty
• Teach courses as assigned
• Mentor departmental faculty and promote their development
• Supervise and annually evaluate departmental staff
• Develop and administer the departmental budget
• Advise pre-professional and professional pharmacy students as appropriate
• Promote a safe and respectful academic environment for faculty, staff, and students
• Perform other duties as requested by the Dean

Minimum Qualifications

• An earned Pharm.D., Ph.D. or comparable degree in the pharmaceutical sciences or related field
• Documented accomplishments as an administrator, educator, and scholar at a level commensurate with an associate or full professor in a school or college of pharmacy
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, perform thoughtful interpretation, draw valid conclusions and propose appropriate courses of action
• Demonstrated ethical and professional behavior consistent with the mission of Regis University

Preferred Qualifications

• An earned entry-level degree (B.S. Pharm or Pharm.D.) from a professional program in pharmacy
• Proficient computer skills including ability to use common academic software, such as word processors, spreadsheets, internet browsers, e-mail and scheduling programs, and computerized testing software
• Ability to attract and secure funding to support individual or departmental educational, service, and research initiatives
